Is West Davis Next?

sixteen

Parlin Development’s Planned Projects:

1. Wildhorse Ranch in East Davis

2. 207 Acres in West Davis

Parlin Development currently proposes the 26-acre Wildhorse Ranch development in east Davis – the subject of the November 3, 2009 Measure P special election.

But wait – there’s more! Parlin also owns 207 acres in west Davis and their website lists the parcel (shown below) as one of their upcoming projects. If Measure P is passed, a proposal to develop this large west Davis parcel will surely soon follow. Both of these projects would convert agricultural land to new housing, crowding traffic on Covell Boulevard and the Davis real estate market.

Is this the time to be building new housing in Davis? Can the City afford new subdivisions that are at best fiscally neutral in the short run, and certain financial drains in the long term?

Please join us in voting No on Measure P on November 3.

· 2,000 housing units already approved in Davis (1,500 in west Davis) are yet unbuilt.

· Davis has already exceeded state-mandated growth targets.

· Wildhorse Ranch is a worse fiscal deal for the city than other recently approved projects.

· Wildhorse Ranch, like the Parlin land in West Davis, is not smart growth!
